North of Chestnut on 23rd, the street takes a sudden architectural turn toward the medieval.
No royalty or cheesy dinner theater, it’s the 23rd Street Armory built in 1901.
The Armory is home to First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry, which sounds like something that shouldn’t exist anymore, but does as part of the National Guard, making it the country’s oldest cavalry unit still in operation.
The building is available to rent for your next large event or military operation planning.
