Somehow I missed that Talula’s Garden, the famous and pricey restaurant on the west side of Washington Square, opened a companion cafe, Talula’s Daily. I’ve never been to the Garden, but checked out the much more accessible cafe.
The first level is a standard coffee shop, except they also have wine and beer.
The second level has sandwiches, salads, cheeses, and other food items, both grab and go and eat in.
Food eaten in is heated and replated in the open kitchen.
I had the pulled pork sandwich with broccoli rabe. I’ve complained in another post about over priced food, but at $10 this great sandwich was well worth it.
Because I don’t usually go into the Independence Visiter Center at 6th and Market, I just learned Hershey’s has a cafe inside. (Hershey’s is a Pennsylvania company.)
The cafe is in the back.
There are a few grab and go sandwiches and salads, but that’s not why I went.
I went because I read they made s’mores.
I had mine with dark chocolate. No campfire, instead the marshmallow rides through an oven.
They serve open face so you can smoosh yourself.
I wound up smooshing mine a bit too much, and ate it more like a sweet, sticky, gooey dip with graham crackers. It cost $9.50. I liked it, but think falls into the category of things I don’t need to eat again.
