In July I did a post about the Schuylkill River from the Waterworks to past Boathouse Row. Today I walked another section of the river, the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk.
This 2000 foot pathway extends over the river from Locust St. to South St. For today’s walk I started at the South Street Bridge, which has one of the best skyline views in the city.
The path itself is a draw for runners and bikers.
Today it was less crowded and I was able to do a photo exchange with tourists that made it look like I had the place to myself.
If you need a break, there are benches.
Here are views of the Locust and South Street sides.
For blog readers outside of Philly who have no idea how to pronounce Schuylkill, here’s what the National Park Service says:
Schuylkill is pronounced SKOO-kill. It comes from Netherland Dutch and means Hidden River.
