Early I wrote about Shakespeare & Co (here and here) as well as the small cluster of bookstores in Queen Village. Now there is a new independent in South Philly, A Novel Idea on Passyunk located at 1726 E. Passyunk.
The shop is owned by Christina Rosso-Schneider and Alexander Schneider, and you can read their story here. Or just see them in this pic they were nice enough to pose for.
They did a great job rehabbing the space.
There’s even a public typewriter from the subject of an earlier post.
As a former small press owner, and someone who is interest in books about Philadelphia, I really like that the first shelves by the door are dedicated to small presses and Philadelphia.
I picked up this book from Lanternfish Press, a local independent publisher.
The shop will be hosting events, so follow them on Facebook, and definitely stop in.
